The Winnebago Man is basically a viral video that focuses on various outtakes during a commercial shoot being done by a Winnebago salesman. During the shoot the Winnebago Man became so overwhelmed that what some may find offensive has suddenly taken on a very funny appeal.

Considering how angry the Winnebago Man is, it still has become one of the more amusing viral videos that has circulated the Internet.  Many people do not realize that the Winnebago Man is actually a product that has been compiled from over twenty-year old outtakes for a sales video shoot.

Unlike many viral videos that have been uploaded on the Internet via different website hosts, the Winnebago Man was originally intended to serve as a private joke between the salesperson and his officemates.

Before they knew it, the VHS (yes, VHS! Just look it up) copies began spreading like wildfire going across the globe.  Eventually it found its way to the Internet and other online hosting websites.  This undoubtedly allowed the Winnebago Man to reach more homes and added to its already immense popularity and reputation.

If you have already heard about the Winnebago Man viral video, then you must already know Jack Rebney.  He is the salesman behind one of the more popular viral videos on the Internet.  For those who only caught him from the Internet phenomena which began in 2005, the Winnebago Man actually made its first global impact during the 1990s.

A New Title for the Winnebago Man

With the sudden popularity received by the Winnebago Man from one of the first and funniest viral videos ever, Jack Rebney has earned a new title.  This Winnebago Man salesman has been known as “The Angriest Man in the World.”

Without the viral video, perhaps many people would never believe that such a furious salesman ever existed.  The world first came to know about the Winnebago Man viral video through underground circulation.

What to Expect from the Winnebago Man Video

If you are one of the few people who have never seen the Winnebago Man viral video then you should at least have an idea of what to expect.  First off, there are plenty of profanities.  Actually, profanities are the main attraction of the viral video and what makes it very funny.

The Winnebago Man viral video is also not a complete story but rather is a compilation of outtakes from a sales video commercial shoot.  Some people have also found it very funny how the Winnebago Man actually gets very annoyed with the flies that apparently wanted to be part of the commercial shoot.

Adding to the insanity of all of it is that the salesman apparently cannot remember the sales pitch lines which he himself wrote.  What many people apparently do not know about Jack Rebney is that he also does not enjoy babies.  As he puts it, “I don’t see anything funny, cute, productive, or useful about babies.”

Circulation of the Winnebago Man Outtakes

During a two-week shoot of a commercial in August of 1988 a four-minute or so of outtake reel surfaced.  This video eventually became what is now known as the Winnebago Man viral video.

As the finished commercial ad made its way to dealers to promote the Sunflyer motorhome, the outtakes were being passed around to the crew members and their friends via VHS tape.  In due time the Winnebago Man viral video reached videotape collectors who eventually copied it and started trading it.

This began an underground phenomenon which made the Winnebago Man Jack Rebney into an instant cult hero.  With the birth of the Internet and popularity of online videos, Jack Rebney became one of its first viral video superstars.

With the immense popularity of the Winnebago Man viral video, filmmaker Ben Steinbauer went on to search for the legendary cursing Jack Rebney.  When he found him the Winnebago Man apparently was unaware of the immense popularity he already enjoyed.

Ben Steinbauer was able to convince him to create an American documentary feature film.  The film eventually premiered at the Southwest Film Festival in Texas with a theatrical release at the Landmark Sunshine Cinema in New York.  The sixty minute documentary version of the Winnebago Man viral video also expanded nationally and on BBC Four in the United Kingdom.

There is no doubt that Jack Rebney is not one of the most pleasant people that you would meet.  In fact, in one interview he was asked how attractive he would rate himself from a scale of 1 to 10.  The simple answer of Jack Rebney, the Winnebago Man was that “I’m large-headed, bald and scarred, and people tell me I never smile.”

As for his popularity, no one can argue that the Winnebago Man has definitely become a legend.
